REVIEW - Chasing Nikki by Lacey Weatherford

Thank you to Mark My Words Publicity for my copy in exchange for an honest review

Chase Walker used to be a good kid--charming, athletic, and with a bright future ahead, but that was before tragedy struck his life, sinking him into deep despair. Caught up in a world of drugs and alcohol, he doesn't notice time slipping away until he's arrested for underage drinking one night.

Fed up with watching her son destroy his life, Chase's mom relocates him to live in a small ranching community with his ex-military grandfather. Chase is far from happy about the situation until he meets, Nikki, the cute cheerleader who won't give football players like him the time of day.

Chase enjoys a good challenge though and sets out to claim Nikki for his own. He soon discovers she's more than a pretty face--she's a balm to his troubled spirit also. But when tragedy strikes Nikki's life too, suddenly Chase finds himself put to the ultimate test. Can he trust Nikki, and all that she's taught him? Will it be enough?

Chasing Nikki is a gem of a book, it really puts you through the mill when it comes to your feelings, you will experience them in all in spades during your read, it also gives you a new book boyfriend in the shape of good kid gone bad Chase Walker.

Chase had it all, a well off and loving family, stellar school sports future ahead, the world could have been his oyster until fate deals a terrible hand and he loses his father.  He starts to spiral out of control turning to drink and drug taking to ease his pain, his mother fed up of his partying ways along with picking him following his arrest one night decides to up sticks back to her family home which is a far cry from what Chase is used to, it is a small town and Chase's ex-military grandfather won't be taking any crap from him.

His grandad lays it on the line, he wont stand for any crap and expects Chase to help out arround the farm and to start acting responsibly, Chase has other ideas but tries to stay on his grandfather's good side.

As well as adjusting to living with his grandparents Chase has to get used to attending a new school, by no means is he shy and retiring so he doesn't struggle to make friends or enemies but the one thing he fails to do is impress Nikki, a gorgeous cheerleader who is initially impervious to his charms, he sets out to try and get her to go out with him and he isn't shy about telling her this.

The story continues as Chase and Nikki gradually become more than friends, he shows her that there is more to him than meets the eye and he finds out lots more about Nikki too, they make such a gorgeous couple but as I find myself typing far too often, the path of true love never runs smooth, as the story reaches its climax you will be shocked with how things end up, no spoilers from me!!

Chasing Nikki is a great book and it starts out in familiar young adult territory with our two young lovers finding each other but happily ever after may not be on the cards!

Chasing Nikki is awarded 4 out of 5
