The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
I'm gonna recap my week and give you an idea of what I have coming up plus anything else newsworthy!
Hey everyone and thanks for stopping by this week, I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday.
This week, well the first half was busy as I working Monday to Wednesday but then came Thursday and the bliss of being on holiday!
On Thursday, two of my good friends and their kids came round, so whilst my kids entertained their kids, we ate and drank and ate and drank some more, it was lovely.
Plus I also gained an extra Cocker Spaniel as my dog's sister came to stay as our friends where away for a couple of days so I had an extra dog to snuggle for two days!
This coming week as well as entertaining my two lovely girls, I intend to read lots, walk lots and go to the dentist thrilling I know but I am holiday!!!
Any hoo in other news I want to say a HUGE thanks to the bloggers who took the time to tell me about their Wordpress and Blogspot experiences, you have given a huge amount of food for thought and I have visited NoseGraze where there is a lot of helpful information to choose from.
For the moment I am going to stay put whilst I figure out the actual costs involved in moving, hosting etc however I have also discovered a couple of websites -
These two sites have got lots of great tips and tricks for bloggers like me on blogspot, so whilst I am on this platform I will be referring to these, in fact you may have noticed my centered title!
What do you mean no?
Look up!! All coded by me to move it to the middle, hey what is that around it?
Yes I bought some shiny graphics to pretty up my title banner. On the heads up from a lovely blogger I headed to Etsy where for a small sum I bought my blog header from the lovely Dutch Lady Digi Designs she also has more at Dutch Lady Designs. It was simple to buy and then an instant download, I had selected, downloaded and put on the blog within 5 minutes!
I also treated myself to some shiny bells and whistles in the form of these bad boys!
And that is just some of them! They are going to feature on my reviews from now one as they are great. I got them from the wonderful Parajunkee's shop!
Oh and if you are lucky enough to be at San Diego Comic-Con, have a wonderful time and I am insanely jealous.

Jenny in Neverland tells us 25 thoughts she has had in the time as a book blogger
Parajunkee talks about handling bad reviews and informing the author.
NoseGraze, I read her 5 signs that you are ready to self-host
Underland to Wonderland post on Disneyland Paris made me long for my Disney happy place!
I have received physical and e-copies of some fab books this week, thank you to all the publishers for sending them!
Let me know if you have read any of them!
Happy Sunday!
It sounds like you had a great week. I’ve thought about moving and/or making major changes to my blog, too, but I haven’t done it yet. It’s kind of overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
It is totally overwhelming but on my mind!!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Love the look of some of your new books and keen to hear what you think of them. And... happy holidays! Your night of drinks with friends sounds lovely and it must have been just what you needed.
ReplyDeletePS. I've only watched the first season of Veep and couldn't get into it. :-(
It certainly was, I don't drink very often but when I do there is nothing better than having a good natter with friends.
DeleteVeep took me a little while to get in to but I love it, it is clever and funny at the same time!
I hope you had an amazing week! So far, it seemed like the week did well to you so I'm glad that things are going good :-) Mine was pretty okay. I went back to school after a 4-month vacation, which was quite exciting and nervous all at once. And aww another doggy to take care of! That's so sweet. I love dogs so much!!! Cocker Spaniel's are adorable.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Heather! And lovely new books, so exciting :)
Jillian @ Jillian's Books
Going back after all that time would be nerve wracking, glad it was ok for you!
DeleteMy dog is so adorable, so to have her times two was wonderful, didn't want to give her sister back!
Good to see you getting some work done on your blog, just marked the two Blogs you mention for further exploration. I have watched a few Veep seasons but don't get the channel any more that it is on here.
ReplyDeleteGlad they were of interest, hope you find something useful!
DeleteMonster and Run have really great covers and I'm off to Goodreads to check out the blurbs! I don't get to read many good horrors or thrillers and these look promising! Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI haven't started them yet, but I do like a book that makes me hide under the covers!
DeleteI love that second pic, we used to watch that show but I can't remember the name! Used to crack me up though. Your new additions look nice I'll have to check out those links and see what I can learn. :)
ReplyDeleteYour new reads look good too!
It is from Absolutely Fabulous, I used to love watching it too!
DeleteWhile I was on blogger for a long time I never figured out any of the cool stuff you could do. Wordpress certainly makes things easier with all the plugins, but I only now realize how much you can change and adjust with blogger as well if you know how. I like the new background header graphic!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll enjoy your vacation, although bummer you have to go to the dentist. I hate going to the dentist. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!
The biggest difference between Blogger and WP is that in Blogger you have to learn the code. It takes A LOT of patience, research and futzing to getting it right. :) There were not a lot of tutorials that I was able to find when I was over on Blogger. I ended up moving over to WP self-hosted because I was sick of the time suck that came along when I wanted to make minor adjustments.
DeleteHeather, it's good to do the research. It is pretty affordable if you find the right host. The biggest expense on going expense, for me right now, is the hosting, but I get a break for paying for the whole year up front. I did spend some cash on the TweakMe theme and the Ultimate Book Blogger plug-ins, but beyond that I've been sticking to the free plugins. And you are right, there are some wonderful tutorials out there!

Yes, dentist can be expensive too, fingers crossed nothing is needed!
DeleteWordpress does have loads of plugins, I may move one day!
Terri, the main thing that makes me want to move is Tweak Me and the UBB, they just look amazing.
DeleteI need to do my sums and figure out what I can afford but I have learnt more about Blogger and what I can change, we shall see!
Sounds like a great week!! Love all the new pretties for the blog!! Swerve looks so good - Hope you enjoy it and the other books you go thtis week!
ReplyDeleteIt does look good, I had seen Swerve on another couple of blogs and it had great reviews!
DeleteI will have to take my husband to see THE MARTIAN - I am going to try to read that one eventually. I could not watch GRAVITY - I don't do psych-tense-suspense well.
ReplyDeleteGravity I wasn't that keen on to be honest but I loved the book of The Martian so I have high hopes for the film!
DeleteHahah! 'join me in my fight against my reading file' sounds pretty accurate. :) Fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteIt is getting bigger all the time!
DeleteOmg Heather what a busy week! Both on and off the blog! Wow!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad the tips with WordPress helped you out, I'm glad you did a little more research into it. I could have gone on forever gushing over it, lol. You've actually inspired me to try and make/design my own banner. I've wanted to for a while, I need a button too ideally. It's just always seemed so technical and over my head, you know? So thank you :) I'll be visiting the websites you suggested!
I really hope you enjoy next week, it sounds like you still have a lot planned!
Amy x
The tips where incredible! There is so much to learn. I would like a button too, it is on my to do list!
DeleteGlad I could help and thanks for yours too!! x
Your blog looks great! Enjoy your new week and your books, and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you and thanks for visiting me!
DeleteI am always interested in books that have the word Monster in the title, so I will have to check Monster out on Goodreads. I have not read The Martian yet, and will have to remedy that before I see the movie. My biggest thing for wanting to switch from Blogger to WordPress is this Jetpack add-on that emails the comment replys to the commenter's comment only. That way your visitors don"t have to subscribe to all comments, and have their inboxes flooded. Have a fab week and vacation!
ReplyDeleteThe Martian is excellent!
DeleteJetpack sounds like a great idea, I got flooded this morning from comments coming in!
Thanks for stopping by!
Switching from Blogger to Wordpress was the best thing I ever did, Nosegraze was very helpful and it's not as hard as you think. Wordpress is a little intimidating but you have so many more options than blogger.
ReplyDeleteI hate the dentist so good luck ;)
Have a great week, Heather! Happy Reading!!!
You are right about it being intimidating but I am doing my homework and will see what happens!
DeleteI hadn't heard of those new books you got but they seem interesting. And yay for vacations! I'm taking summer classes so no vacations for me :(
ReplyDeleteSorry no vacation for you! I am enjoying mine!
DeleteI've been considering moving my blog and everything too but it seems like so much work! Thanks for pointing out those sites though, I'll have to take advantage of them.
ReplyDeleteHope you have an awesome week(and that the dentist isn't too horrible). =)
Yes definitely check them out, they have helped me!
DeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I am so glad you're going to research before making a big move to Wordpress. It will save lots of headaches for you in the end.
ReplyDeleteHave a great vacation and I love the header. (new follower too by the way)
Welcome!! There is so much to learn about Wordpress but I'm also learning so much more about Blogger too.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
HOORAY for holiday! And great job with the header. Ooo I see you're reading The Passage. I re-read it not too long ago and plan to re-read The Twelve soon. I can't wait for the 3rd book!
ReplyDeleteThe Passage is great but it is taking a while to read as I'm reading it between other books so taking ages!
DeleteThe icons from Parajunkee look really cute! And way to go on the banner! I hate the dentist...I need to go badly, but the cost is just ridiculous. It's do I want to afford bills and groceries or get my tooth fixed? Hmm...
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited for Crimson Peak and The Martian. I've read The Martian and it was sooo good! Crimson Peak has Tom in it and he could basically act in a 30 second commercial and I'd start waxing poetic about his ability to turn everything into a shakespearean experience.
Parajunkee has some brilliant bits to add on!
DeleteI have a broken tooth but it is not bothering me so I am just going to leave it!
Crimson Peak, I didn't notice anybody else apart from Tom in the trailer!!!!
Your header is lovely! I had no idea that you could buy graphics for blogs. Interesting!
ReplyDeletereaderbuzz.blogspot.com
Neither did I, there are a lot to choose from out there!
DeleteThe reading lots and walking lots sound like a great upcoming week. :)
ReplyDeleteSo far a little of each done, the week is going by too quickly!
DeleteLOL high fiving a million angels, that is me every Fri! :D Well done on learning some coding, I just never had the patience or the interest in doing that. If you can make blogger work like that you could well be happy out there forever. I found personally that self hosting makes blogging simpler.
ReplyDeleteYip, coding is great with patience but I have had some swear words trying to get it right!!
DeleteLoved reading about the blog updates you are making and thinking about. Good luck with the further updates. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by the The Local Muse
Aw, thank you and thanks for stopping by here!
DeleteI really need to do some work on my blog, its pretty basic. Lol. I love your header, good job!!
ReplyDeleteOmg Crimson Peak!
Your Scottish post was awesome. Lol. I can't believe you don't just live on shortbread and whisky, say what? :) My grandma was the first in her family born in the States ~ the rest of her brothers and sisters were born in Scotland, and parents and so on - are you sure you don't know them? ;)
Nope! I don't think I know them!!!
DeleteCrimson Peak, OMG indeed, it looks great and scary and Tom Hiddleston!!
Thanks for posting! I just bought Run. Like literally, just now after seeing it here. LOL! What can I say? It looks interesting. I've just read Swerve. I found it a bit predictable, but fun, creepy, and thrilling. Can't wait to see what you think. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYay! I hope you enjoy it. Swerve does look creepy, will leave for reading during the day!
DeleteHmm, I get the impression that you're excited about vacation. ;-) ;-)
ReplyDeleteOooo, Crimson Peak! I want! I have to see it, though it will probably scare the patoots off of me.
Have a wonderful week!!
Just a little bit!! It will scare me through by Tom Hiddleston will take my mind of the scary bits!!
DeleteIt sounds like your vacation was off to a good start - except for the dentist, which I hope is over with now...
ReplyDeleteYour new books look great, I need to check out a couple of them for sure.
Enjoy your Friday and the rest of your vacation Heather.

Dentist was fine, thank goodness!!
