Book Blogger Hop - July 10th-16th

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

Question

If you can recommend a book from the following genres, what would they be?
A book from Romance, NA, YA, Fantasy

(submitted by Tabatha @ Broken Soul Reviews)

Answer

Quite frankly recommending books can be a dangerous business, there is nothing worse than loving a book, telling someone about it and they hate it.  It makes me doubt myself and my taste in books.

I’m not a huge reader of NA/YA but I do like a bit of romance and a bit of fantasy.  Mostly together to be honest.  The book that would fill that category for me would be....

Yes, The Lord of the Rings, A book that I would imagine doesn’t scream romance, fantasy yes, romance no!

The romance between Arwen and Aragorn is of course the main one, an immortal elven maiden renouncing her immortality to be with the man she loves.  Faramir and Eowyn deserve a mention too, they fall in love recovering from grievous wounds in Minas Tirith.  It is the book that made me fall in love with reading, a fantasy world I longed to explore.

  1. I have exactly the same fear about recommending books. I have owned the Lord of the Rings trilogy for a few years but still haven't read it yet.

    1. I love it but you really have to devote a good while to reading it.

  2. I'm the same with recommending books. If the person doesn't like it, I feel like I've lost their trust. It's stressful. I've read The Hobbit but still need to read the trilogy. Hope you have a great weekend! :)

  3. I'm happy to talk about books on my blog that I've liked and give as much info as I can so other bloggers know what kind of thing to expect in these books if they choose to read it. I don't generally say 'oh you must read this you'll love it' as I can't predict what my friends might love or hate! I agree that recommending is tricky!

    1. I know, it’s tricky plus I’m terrible at describing books I love when I meet my fellow book lovers! A book that sounded amazing can quickly sounds awful once it comes out my mouth!!

  4. Yeah, it's a sinkhole trying to recommend books. I try to recommend authors instead. I haven't actually read Tolkien but LOVED the films. Thanks for sharing, Heather. x
