Hello everyone, hoping you are all safe and well.

Not much to report this week I’m afraid, it’s been very quiet which of course isn’t necessarily a bad thing! Here in Scotland, COVID deaths are at their lowest level, I believe only 6 where registered last week.  I truly feel for those who have lost loved ones to this virus.

More and more businesses are opening, we had to visit our nearest city last weekend as my husband desperately need a hair cut, I decided to venture down the street to see how the shops were fairing, I did not like it one bit.  Security guards everywhere making sure you don’t venture of the marked paths, people not caring about being social distant - needless to say I didn’t hang about and went back to the car.

Blog wise, this week I took the plunge and bought the domain RandomRedheadedRamblings.co.uk and RandomRedheadedRamblings.com, when I have uninterrupted hours of peace and quiet I will figure out how to properly use them, if I ever make the move to Wordpress I thought it was a better idea to have them as I spotted a Random Redhead Rambles somewhere on the net and that made me decide I didn’t want any hassle at a later date.

I’ve also been job hunting this week, I was made redundant at the end of last month so I have been polishing up my CV/Resume and applying for jobs as they come up.  It’s a hard slog but hopefully something will turn up.

Stay Safe and be kind!

  1. Too many people out there are flouting the rules for my liking! Our local shops and the delivery drivers are distancing and that helps me feel more secure. I won't be venturing out if I can help it as I don't want a dose of this. All the talk of blood clots, ongoing brain injuries and organ damage...no thanks, I'll stay at home and shop online!

Good luck with the job hunting-I have my fingers crossed for you.

    1. I don’t blame you, every day the news is worse and worse. I’d quite happily stay inside for the foreseeable if I can.

      Five jobs applied for!

  2. Ah I hope you find a great job soon <3
We had a very low contagion number for a while but now it is rising. People are scared for the second wave which might happen.

  4. Glad to hear deaths in Scotland are low. That's good news at least. Here things are a disaster of course. And good luck with thr job search! That's never fun but I hope you have quick success!

Congrats on the domains too. :)

  5. Ooh, a good haul there! I have Murderous Contagion, too -- it'll probably count as a relaxing read for me, since I've studied diseases, but it covers a lot of ground, so maybe there'll be some surprises too! Hope you enjoy the new books!

  6. Good luck with the job hunt and the domains. There’s tons of COVID where I live, so I convinced my mom to cut my hair. I hope you enjoy your new books!

  8. Glad things have been quiet on the COVID front. Good luck with your job search!

I read Over the Top a couple of months ago and to be honest, I didn't love it. I love JVN but it was a little wordy for me. But I definitely want to read Tan France's book!

  9. Our governor just made masks mandatory. Should have been done awhile ago and maybe we'd have this thing under better control :(

  11. Good luck with the job hunting! It must be dreadfully stressful during this time. I know there are a large number of people who've lost their jobs in SA and there's no use in even applying for a new job at the moment. Very sad and scary.

Congrats on the domain! Hope all goes well!

Have a good week and here's my The Sunday Post

  12. We are back in lockdown and that pretty much suits me at the moment!

I have a custom URL but still use it with Blogger. I've been using it for so long now I can't imagine changing to Wordpress now.

Good luck with your job hunt!

    1. Lockdown is a distant memory, people are wandering about like its all back to normal.

That’s good about the URL, I need to sit down and change them over when I am feeling at my most patient!

  13. That is a really wise decision about buying the domains. I moved from blogger to Wordpress a couple of years ago and I think it is the best decision for my site.

I am glad you were rational and sensible enough to get back to safety. Stay safe!

  16. There are lots of places here in the States where people have gone back to life pre-COVID. They gather in large groups with no masks. No wonder our numbers are going up! Sigh. I go back to work August 3rd (I'm a teacher) and the kids come back August 12th full time (no virtual, no alternating day schedule, just all the kids, normal school day).

    1. I think that is what they are planning on doing in the schools here, a final decision is due this week. I notice the large groups in our time, now the pubs are opening distancing is start to go out the window.

  18. Good luck with your job search. I'm glad that Scotland is doing well during this pandemic and that things are gradually starting to open up. I hope you find an ideal job.

I've been blogging for twelve years now (!) and I have kept the same little spot at Blogger. I think sometimes about buying a place of my own.

Murderous Contagion sounds good to read...someday, but not now. I tried the Lawrence Wright novel about a pandemic and I couldn't read past the first couple of chapters.

    1. Wow twelve years is amazing! I keep thinking about Wordpress but I keep getting put off.

I have applied for five jobs in the last few weeks, fingers crossed something comes from it.

I am reading a book called Spillover by David Quammen about pandemics, it is very good, it doesn’t lecture you, it is written so well.

  35. We're still staying home almost all the time. We do groceries with curbside pickup, and the occasional online order. Same with pretty much everything else we need. Too many people ignoring the mask orders, not to mention ignoring social distancing.

I hope you are able to find another job soon, and that it's one you can do remotely if you need to. My freelance business has taken a downturn and I need to find some more clients, so I feel for you.

  36. In today's time, a quiet week is blissful. I'm sorry to hear people weren't following guidelines. I'm afraid things aren't much better here in the States. 38. The U.S. COVID numbers are a disaster so I'm happy Scotland is seeing some of its lowest numbers. I agree that one death is still too many.

That's good it's not as bad there where you are, it was pretty bad here during April-June and now fingers crossed the cases have been down and steadily so for many weeks. It's crazy how some people do not respect social distancing or mask wearing, I see it here as well.

  40. Did you know Blogger has custom URLs now, too? Now that you've bought your domain name it will be easy to transfer. You don't lose your stats like you do with transfering to WordPress and the hits to your old post urls automatically re-route. I think it costs $12 a year.

Good luck with the job hunt. That's a really rotten thing to happen on top of everything else going on in 2020. (((((((HUGS)))))))

YAY for The Friday Night Ghost Club! I recently grabbed it, too. When it first published there were no US editions, so I was thrilled to see it for sale as an ebook. 👍✨

Thank you for the (((((((hugs))))))), it sucks but onwards and upwards!!

I’ve been waiting on Ghost Club to drop in price for ages, it was at a bonkers price here, it dropped and I pounced!
