Welcome to my Sunday Post, a weekly meme hosted by
Kimberley over at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer .
Join me as I ramble about my week in and out of the blogosphere.
Not much of an eventful week, the kids are now on their summer holiday and have happily “hung up” their online work. Both did me proud by winning awards, of course with social distancing they can’t collect them but I am still proud.
Here in Scotland COVID seems to be going away though there has been a small surge in cases, everywhere seems a little busier, its nice to see more people about but I do worry that it will bring more cases and we will back to square one.
As I have been on furlough my week comprises kid wrangling, housework, dog walks and a feeling of it being Groundhog Day. I have been enjoying Netflix especially Dark and Kim’s Convenience. Any Netflix recommendations duly accepted!
I hope everyone is well out there, stay safe and happy reading.
Vacation started over here as well, me as a teacher, need the relaxing. Homeschooling time was so stressful and busy, being online for more than 12 hours a day...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the summer! Enjoy the sun, and good books :) Enjoy family!
I was stressed as a parent, I’d think as a teacher it will be even more stressful. Hope you get to relax and have a lovely time!
DeleteI think all parties involved were stressed, I even got that vibe from my 10 year old learners. I was glad the schools opened back up here at the beginning of May.
DeleteNow everybody is enjoying their well earned vacations! Enjoy the summer holiday :)
So glad your kids did well with online schooling! I imagine that was quite a transition. I love the look of Earthlings. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katherine!
DeleteMy daughter has just one week of her college class then 4 weeks off before fall classes start. Everything online right now. She's handling it better than expected. I think it's fine for some of these general education type classes. They have videos and online discussion groups and some other tools. But some classes won't work as well. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
I’ve been impressed by the quality of the home schooling, they’ve had lots of interactive web programs and lots of group chats, they are glad to be on holiday now though!
DeleteI just finished listening to the Bone Jar this weekend. Enjoy. Glad things seem good with Covid there. Kids adapt easily. I hope you all enjoy the crazy days of summer!
ReplyDeleteI’m enjoying so far, no idea who the culprit is yet!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
It's so weird to read about COVID "going away" from here in the States, where we seem determined to keep it around as long as possible. I'm glad that Scotland seems to be faring well though! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI think it is going to take some time to go away completely.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Congrats to the kids. I hope they enjoy their summer. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks AJ! Have a good week.
DeleteGreat looking books! I am curious about The Bone Jar.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, and stay safe. Thanks for visiting my blog.
I just finished the Bone Jar last night and it kept me guessing right till the end!
DeleteCongratulations on being so successful with your children's home schooling, down here in southern England, our grandchildren have another 3 weeks before they break up. I like the look of The Bone Jar... Have a restful week, now the children are on holiday!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I’m looking forward to them returning to school next month, they aren’t however!
DeleteI really enjoyed the Bone Jar, its an excellent read.
Quite an impressive list of new books! And congratulations to your award-winning kids!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'm jealous that COVID is going away in Scotland. Not here. We have too many stupid people who refuse to wear masks and some who even host COVID parties. Eye-roll from me. Today my hubby exclaimed that he is getting angry about how long this is all dragging on since everyone is not acting responsibly...https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2020/07/sunday-salonindependence-day-and-so.html
ReplyDeleteThere are people here too that just don’t seem to care, I’d much rather wear a mask than be connected to a ventilator in a hospital that’s for sure.
DeleteI'm so glad things are going better there. It's a disaster here lol. But what's new? :) And ooh you're watching Dark? I am too, on season three, although it's hard to keep everyone straight! Are you liking it? I just finished Deadwind season two (A Finnish show- loved it) and Into the Night is really good too.
ReplyDeleteYou have some cool looking new books. the Bone Jar looks good.
I’m loving Dark, but I usually find myself pausing it several times to look at the wiki so I can remember who is who, its bonkers confusing but I’m really enjoying it and picking up a tiny bit of German too!
DeleteBone Jar is excellent!
I am glad to hear that things with the virus are going well in Scotland. We've had a terrible uptick in cases in the past few weeks and our state's governor just announced that masks are mandatory. I hope that people will listen and follow the rules.
ReplyDeleteI'm eager to read the new book by the author of Convenience Store Woman. I will be interested in hearing what you think of it.
Have a safe week.
Masks will be mandatory in shops from this Friday but I would imagine people will refuse to wear them and then the internet will no doubt be full of videos of more idiots who don’t care - its madness.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
The mid year school holidays started here today, but my kids have been back in the classroom for weeks.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately we are experiencing a cluster of case resurgence in some parts of Australia...but thankfully very far from where I am.
Wishing you a great reading week
It seems to be the same in quite a few places, cases popping back up again.
DeleteHave a great week and thanks for stopping by.
It'll be interesting to see if the Scotland cases remain low now you're opening up more. I just ordered my mum a load of masks so she can go shopping etc come the end of the week when they become mandated... Down here (I live in the SW of England now) our numbers (in my region) have remained pretty low, especially when compared to other regions of England, but I'm expecting a rise since people went nuts (flooding the beaches etc) when they lessened restrictions! :(
ReplyDeleteI saw some of the pictures on the news of people on the beaches on the south coast, it looked bonkers, I know people are getting cabin fever but some have really gone crazy.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I am glad to hear that your cases are so low! That must feel so good. :) My brother and I always talk about wanting to move our families to Scotland - it's a dream. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break and congrats to your children! :)
I honestly take it for granted living here but when I do stop a minute and look at the mountains and forests surrounding me in the Highlands, I know how lucky we are!
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
Schools just started again in South Africa today! Not that I've had much of a break, I was teaching catch up classes online the whole holidays.
ReplyDeleteLuckily we have some great books to ease the pain!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, hope you will have a wonderful week!
Teachers are doing such an amazing job during this period, I don’t think I would be able to cope with teaching classes online.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Yay for school being over for awhile! I bet the kids are relieved. I am glad to hear the virus numbers are going down in Scotland. That must be such a relief. I hope it stays that way. We all need some positive news.
ReplyDeleteYour new books all look good. They all sound good. I hope you have a great week.
Thank you and thanks for stopping by!
DeleteNice that Covid cases are going down in your area. Just the opposite here in California and we've had more shutdowns again. It's a bummer.
ReplyDeleteHer Final Words looks interesting. Enjoy your books and your week!
I saw that on the news about California, such a shame, hopefully there will be an end in sight soon.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I'm glad things are going well in your area as far as COVID goes. We're not doing well in Florida, but I'm always hoping things will change. Your books look good. I hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteI miss Florida, we were supposed to be in Orlando in late September but have had to cancel. Stay safe over there.
DeleteCases are on the rise here in my state (Ohio). But, like you, when the quarantine was strong here, every day was like groundhogs day. So boring!
ReplyDeleteI’m in a groundhog week at the moment!
DeleteMy dad and I have asthma so we were self isolating for most of this pandemic. We're getting pretty much everything delivered so we're not going near supermarkets and shops for quite a while yet. My dad and I are having to clear out my uncle's house to get it ready to sell which means constant trips over there, taking things to charity shops and refuse collections from the house but we're taking masks and social distancing very seriously.
ReplyDeleteStay away from the shops as long as you can, if they deliver I’d stick with it as people won’t do what they are told.
