Hello, hope you are all safe and well.
I can’t believe its August, how did that happen?!
On the blog this week I’ve been trying to schedule as much as possible just in case the unexpected happens and I manage to get a job in the near future! It feels quite satisfying to have a pile of schedule posts and a pile of drafts ready to spring in to action.
On the job front I have now applied for eight jobs, I will wait and see what happens!
Have a lovely week everyone and stay safe!

Scotland still seems to be fairing well but Nicola Sturgeon (our First Minister) is concerned about the second wave of COVID that seems to be spreading through other countries in Europe such as Spain and France. There has been an uproar as well, Spain was on the list of Air Bridges where it was considered safe to travel to, a couple of days ago it was struck of the list leaving people out there facing a two week quarantine when they come home and people who were due to fly out angry that their holiday is cancelled.

On the home front the most exciting thing this week was I power washed my patio, it was so satisfying to get rid of the grime however in my stupidity I managed to get sunburnt, at least my patio looks nice even if my back looks ridiculous! Today (Friday 31st), is supposed to the hottest day of the month, it may reach the dizzy height of 24 degrees centigrade.
Have a lovely week everyone and stay safe!
I truly hope Europe doesn't have a big breakout like we are having in the US. It's a mess here in Texas. My little county has 150 new cases a day. I know of several in the hospital. I feel helpless as I watch people gather for a club meeting across the street.
ReplyDeleteI hope one of the eight jobs works out well for you. It's smart to go ahead and get posts ready. I like to have posts ready for several weeks ahead.
I see you did a hop last week. I used to love those blog hops. I haven't done one in ages, though.
Enjoy all your new books. Fingers crossed for you.
I think the breakout is starting to be honest, I keep hearing that cases are on the increase on the continent and parts of England are under threat of potential lockdown again. I just wish people wouldn’t kick off about wearing a masks, yes it can be uncomfortable but I’d rather that than be in hospital.
DeleteThanks for stopping by Deb.
Good luck with the job front and I hope you hear something soon. It was really hot here on Friday but the sun never broke through, leaving it clammy and cloudy which suits me better than hot sun! I'm taking way too much pleasure in household tasks at the moment! Pity about your sunburn though! It's a right bamstick when that happens!
ReplyDeleteIt was the same with us, I was expecting brilliant sunshine but it dark, gloomy and hot instead, tomorrow it’s heavy rain!
DeleteYep sunburn sucks when you are a pale redhead but I should know better!
I am crossing my fingers for the job hunt!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOoh, I got The Conductors recently too -- here's hoping we both love it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the job! Fingers crossed.
I’m looking forward to reading it too!
DeleteI hope you get good news with the jobs. Sending good vibes. My state was one of the first to surge in the US and now it's flattening while other states that didn't surge earlier are out of control. I hope they giddy up on the vaccine, because this is sort of scary now.
ReplyDeleteI just hope the vaccine works, I really hope it does, the virus seems to be surging left, right and centre.
DeleteStay safe out there!
I'm glad to hear Scotland is doing well and I hope you don't get a bad second wave! Everything just seems to get worse here, but then we've been having problems for a while so it's, sadly, not a huge surprise?
ReplyDeleteI got sunburned too on vacation and was miserable for a few days! Glad that's over lol.
Wandering Earth looks good.
I enjoyed Cixin Liu’s Three Body Problem series so thought I’d give this a try before I watched it on Netflix.
DeleteI hope Scotland stays ok, the kids go back to school next week, fingers crossed it doesn’t cause any spikes in COVID.
Good luck on the job search. It's such a crazy year and changes keep coming whether we want them or not. I do hope Covid can slow down, people here are being very careless an we have zero leadership and our school district just went all virtual for the start of the school year because the local board of health recommended it. Crazy times.
ReplyDeleteIt is really crazy times just when you think it’s getting better it gets worse, when will it end!.
DeleteMy girls are excited to go back but I’m kinda nervous, there are so many changes to their school day, I worry.
I wish you the best of luck in you job search, and I will certainly keep you in my thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI too received a copy of The Conductors. I'm very excited to dive into it this month! I can't wait to hear your thoughts as well!
Have a great week and happy reading!
Thanks Lori, I’m hopeful, fingers crossed!
DeleteWe're still very much in the first wave here (Florida) and it seems like it's completely out of control. The leadership is weak and it shows in how people are not acting responsibly. Good for you for have posts pre-scheduled! I am the worst at that and always envy people who manage to do it. 24 degrees is 75 F to me and that sounds quite heavenly right now! It's 35 C here today!
ReplyDeleteI love a Florida and it pains me to see it struggling with COVID-19. When I blogged from 2013-2017 I was far too much seat of my pants blogging, now I’m trying to be sensible! It was 3 C the other morning when my husband went to work!
DeleteHi there! How clever of you to write so many drafts! The most I get to is to do my Top Ten Tuesday over the weekend. But then again, I do have a job and run like crazy. I hope you will find the job of your dreams real soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the title for The Lonely Heart Attacks Club! LOL!! Silent Night seems like it's not going to be what's expected....
Have a wonderful week and here's my The Sunday Post
I know when I get a job time will become a luxury so I may as well use the time I have now to get a good stash of posts.
DeleteI’m looking forward to Silent Night, I think it may be creepy!
Urg - sunburn is always miserable - the best thing for soothing it is aloe vera gel which is also lovely and cooling. Glad the patio came up well, though. Fingers crossed for the job hunt! Have a good week, Heather:)
ReplyDeleteI bought a big bottle and have stashed it in the fridge between uses! I should know better, I’ve been pale and Redheaded for over 40 years!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Thank you for sharing about the conditions in Scotland. It is interesting to hear first hand about what's happening outside of the US. Good luck with your job hunt and stay well.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, it may not always be good news but it is interesting to hear how other parts of the world are coping.
DeleteI hope you don't have a second wave, I don't even think the US is halfway done with the first wave yet. Wishing you lots of luck and crossed fingers for the job search. It much be so hard to find something in the current state of the world but have faith you will find something. :)
ReplyDeleteHave great week, Heather! Happy Reading!
I think it will come, there are already cases popping up again.
DeleteThank you for the luck, I’m ever hopeful something will come up!!
We are a hot mess here in the US. Cases are out of control in some places. We go back to school in 10 days.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find a job! I hate job hunting!
I hate job hunting too, it’s a bit soul destroying!
DeleteGood luck with your job hunt, I will have to start that next week as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, Heather!
Thanks Lynn!
DeleteI hope Scotland stays safe! I have a neighbor from Scotland who keeps me updated about her family in Edinburgh. Good luck with your job hunt; I hope something comes up soon.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you read a lot of crime thriller/mysteries. I love those too. I just picked up Alex North's new one The Shadows.
We've been hit hard here in the U.S. and my state of Utah as well. A bunch of anti-maskers stormed a county commissioner meeting demanding we don't require our kids to wear masks when school starts! I couldn't believe it. No one socially distanced, no one was wearing a mask. They had to cancel the meeting immediately. It was so sad to see. I hope Europe stays safe! Have a great week!
Scotland does seem fine just now but we just recently been advised not to travel parts of northern England, friends are disappointed as they wanted to visit family.
DeleteI never used to read as much crime but I seem to have developed a taste for it over the last few years.
That is horrendous, I’d rather wear a mask than be in hospital on a ventilator. They are crazy, I can’t believe not wearing a mask is such a bone of contention.
Thanks for stopping by!
I know you will get a job soon. You are so upbeat and positive, what asset to any company or business. All the great books you are reading will help pass the time until you get that perfect job. Please join me for some good news of the week
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, that is such a lovely thing to say.
DeleteI certainly have plenty to read till the time comes!
Thanks for stopping by.
Best of luck with your job hunt! I hope Scotland is able to keep COVID cases low. We've certainly done a dismal job of that here in the US. It's horrifying to think how many people have died here unnecessarily.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious of your weather! 24 C sounds heavenly. Right now, it's 33.3 C outside (92 F) and feels like 38.8 due to the humidity. It's too hot to do anything outside; I just stay indoors.
Enjoy your new books! The Conductors looks interesting. And stay safe and healthy!
I posted about my week and new books in my Sunday Post today.
I hope so too, we will find out if it stays low when the schools go back next week.
DeleteIt was even cooler the other day when my husband went to work, just above freezing! The weather is having a bad year too!
I hope you get a job offer! And I hope a second wave passes you all by. The U.S. is still in the first one and keep fumbling that . . . If only we had decent leadership here. I hope your back isn't giving you too much trouble. Sunburns can quite painful when bad, I know. I hope you enjoy your new books! I'm really curious about The Conductors. I hope you have a good week! Stay safe and well.
ReplyDeleteUsually at this time of year we’d be making our pilgrimage to Florida, I’m going to miss America so much this year, I can’t believe how out of hand it’s got along with the backlash of people not wearing masks.
DeleteStay safe too!
I do hope that the second wave won't be worse as the first and that people will have learned from it! Best of luck with the job hunt. Times are hard! Here's to an excellent month of August! :D
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for good news on the job front!
DeleteThank you, hopefully August will be a much better month, it can’t be any worse!! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThanks Tina!
DeleteParts of Australia are unfortunately experiencing a second wave, I’m hoping it doesn’t reach our area.
ReplyDeleteAloe Vera gel, kept in the fridge, is ideal for sunburn, slather it on generously every hour or so :)
Wishing you a great reading week
I’ve seen it on the news the reports from Australia, it does seem like its being dealt with swiftly. I’ve got a bottle in the fridge as we speak!
DeleteGood luck on the job hunt! We had been having very warm weather but it has moderated over the last few days. I keep sunburning my forehead on my daily walks since I keep forgetting to apply sunscreen before I go out. Come see my week here, Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, hopefully something comes up soon!
DeleteI should apply sunscreen, I should know better!!
It is crazy how things change with this virus. Water always tricks me and I end up getting sunburn if I am not careful. I bet the porch looks nice. Hope the week ahead is a good one for you.
ReplyDeleteIt is wind that tricks me, it can be a cloudy miserable day and wham a strong wind renders me bright red!
DeleteYeah...we're prepping for a second wave here in Canada. I think it's inevitable.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a job soon! It can be nerve-racking to wait for an interview or an answer. And take care of that sunburn with some soothing lotion. It must be hard to sleep.
It looks like it, it’s just a matter of time before it hits.
DeleteWhat’s worse is that a lot of them don’t reply so you are left in limbo wondering if it’s a yes or no.
Sunburn is peeling now!☺️
Wishing Scotland all the best with keeping the virus at bay. Your first minister seems like a sane woman. We get a bit of Scottish updates on our news every so often. But it's why I like blog visiting as each person often shares where their country is at. All the best on the job front and in the meantime - lots of great reading.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathryn, Nicola has many critics but she has done a not too bad job, better than Boris anyway! I’m the same, the internet does bring us all closer.
DeleteGood luck with your job applications! We usually pressure wash our house every couple of years. The first hour or two is very satisfying. Then the fun wears off and we just want to be done with it! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeletePressure washing is great fun, I’m doing more tomorrow, my back will kill me tomorrow night!
DeleteGood luck on the job front! I hope all goes well as far as the virus goes. Have a great week and enjoy your books.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne and thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGood luck with your job hunt! And I hope you enjoy The Conductors. It's on my list to read eventually and I think it sounds fantastic:-)
ReplyDeleteI’m looking forward to reading it, it sounds like it will be a great read!
DeleteI swear, job hunting is a full-time job. Sending positive vibes your way!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I need them!!
DeleteGood luck with the job hunting! It can be so stressful.
ReplyDeleteAs for COVID-19, I hope Scotland fairs better than us! We aren't even out of the first wave yet because of all the idiotic trumplethinskin supporters who think it is a hoax and that their rights are being violated by having to wear a mask *eye roll*
It stressful yes, but I hope it will be worth it in the long run.
DeleteScotland was doing well but cases seem to be on the rise again, when will it end?
I am concerned we might be gettign a second wave here, our numbers have been rising steadily these last week or so.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome you have some posts scheduled ahead. I like to schedule ahead, so I don't have to worry as much about it.
Good luck with the job search! That's great you applied to 8 jobs!
Ouch sunburn is painful. I hope your back is doing better, but that sounds very satisfying to power wash your patio.
Good luck with the job search. I am doing the same here in Germany but it is difficult. Well, some doctors believe that we already have a second wave in Europe. But some see it different. Oh well, that virus is a nightmare!
