Hello, hope you are all safe and well.

Its been quite a miserable week in my part of the world, its getting colder and it seems to be raining every day.  I really want a nice crisp September, one with Pumpkin Spice Lattes and crisp leaves in autumnal hues.  I don’t want soggy grass and mist that seems to descend the minute I go outside.

I’m on a kind of a downer this week, I should be excited as on the 28th, I should be on a plane with my loved ones going to Orlando, needless to say that is not happening and I am ok with it apart from the fact I don’t have access to a Bath and Body Works in this country, they won’t deliver to the UK and my stock of tiny hand sanitisers is down to its last 30 (!), joking aside I can buy them on eBay and I really don’t want to travel anywhere at the moment.

I treated myself to a lovely book cover this week or are they called book bags, book sleeves?

Isn’t it lovely, I saw author Sarah Pearse share hers on Insta and I knew I had to buy one, it came from Meelie Moo who are on Etsy it is a good size and if I do travel anywhere it’ll happily take a paperback and my kindle Paperwhite or a hardback.  I have just tested my IPad Pro 10.5” and it fits in just nicely.  Just reading that this sounds like an advert, it’s not! I did get it myself!!

I also bought a few new books this week as there was few good deals on Amazon - I keep seeing the Extinction Trials everywhere and the first books was 99p so I had to pick it up.

Not a lot else to report, I am sure there are COVID related things but quite frankly I have had enough of it!

Have a lovely week everyone and stay safe!

  1. Yes to the Extinction Trials! I really hope you enjoy it! I'm on a bit of a downer this week with the whole Blog thing depressing me. I knew I wasn't going to keep my blog going forever but I feel like I'm being forced off because idiots at Blogger don't believe in letting us choose what we want to do!

  2. We have the opposite weather here in California, its supposed to get to 113 degrees tomorrow!! Which is awful. I will be staying inside as much as possible. I hope your weather cheers up soon😁

  3. I'm with you on fall! And give me all the PSL's haha! I'm glad you reminded me of those, here it is September already and it's time for one of those soon hopefully!

I'm sorry you guys are missing your trip. That sucks for sure. Orlando is so fun, I miss going there too. Ergh!!!

    I love the Extinction Trials!

It’s not the end of the world, I just miss America and having waffles for breakfast!

  4. I would love to send you some of my heat and trade you for the rain and cold. It's supposed to be 113F here today. Maybe we can wish for something in between the two for both of us? Ugh. I feel for you. I'm sorry too your travel plans can't go forward. This entire situation really stinks, doesn't it? I'm trying my hardest to focus on the positive, but it's hard.

That's a pretty book cover! I hope you get lots of use out of it! That's great that it is versatile and will fit a book or one of your devices!

I hope you enjoy your new books! Several of those sound like books I might like as well. Have a great weekend and week ahead!

    1. Yep, I could believe what a great size it was, I’ll probably use it more for my ipad and maybe buy another for my books!

Maybe not all of the heat but some would be nice, the chill when you step outside here is starting to become more and more noticeable but the leaves are starting to turn so there is an autumnal feel finally!

      Stay safe and stay cool!

  5. That looks like quite the haul! Enjoy. :D

The weird way this year has turned out keeps getting me down, too, even though I'm normally a homebody anyway. I don't mind staying home like this... but I mind the feeling that the things I planned aren't turning out! Hope you manage to cheer up and can escape into a book instead. :)

  6. Hi Heather! Hope is always alive and well....

Please let me know what you think of The Phone Box at the edge of the world. A new monthly book subscription started here in SA and their first book was that one. I am still a bit hesitant to register for it, you don't know what you will get and what if I don't like it... Then I've waisted all that money!

I love your book sleeve. One of my students made me a tote bag end of last year to carry my books in and I can FINALLY wear it again tomorrow night when we start with book club for the first time in 6 months. Whoop whoop!!

Hope you will have a great week. Here's my The Sunday Post #10

    1. I’m always tempted by these book subscription boxes but I’m the same, what if I don’t like it and you’ve spent lots.

The book sleeve I’m so pleased with, I might get another!

      Hope book club went well!

  7. I'm so sorry that your trip was postponed, Heather. It's those disappointments that during normal times would have made us sad that now really bring us down.

And your weather certainly doesn't help either, does it? Cold and rainy? Funny, but we are eagerly looking forward to cold and rainy here. Then again it won't really set in here until the end of October.

Your wonderful books, though, are all good news. Just looking at all those beautiful covers makes me happy. I think I will find out more about Tokyo Bicycle Bakery (love Japan) and United States of Anxiety (understatement, I think). I already had Before the Coffee Gets Cold on my list, and I can't wait to hear what you think of it.

I hope this week you get a little nice sun and warmth. Enjoy your books.

It’s getting colder every day, my summer clothes will be getting popped under the bed soon I think!

I love Japan too, I’m reading more and more Japanese fiction, I really enjoy it!

Your book cover is gorgeous, too, I totally understand that you wanted to hype up the Etsy that made it :)

  12. It's been cooler weather here too with plenty of rain and wind. I do like the cooler temperature,s but I am not a fan of all the wind and rain. A bit of rain now and then is nice as long as it's not everyday. Sorry to hear about your trip being cancelled :(. Hopefully you can go another time. Your new book sleeve looks awesome. It seems like such a handy and pretty way to keep your book or ipad protected. I hope you'll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    1. No I’m the same the wind and rain I could do without!

Florida will still be there, hopefully we can go next year if flights are reinstated.

I’d never thought of a book sleeve till I saw an author on Instagram share hers, I knew I had to get one!

  13. I am missing travel as well. This is the first time in my adult life that I have gone so long without travelling. Our last trip was May 2019 to France, Italy and Barcelona, and it was fantastic. We usually spend a couple of winter months away and that didn't have this year.
You gave me the idea to make my own book cover!

  25. I'm sorry that you've missed out on your trip to Orlando - and can completely relate as I ran out of Basin soaps 2 years ago. I know I could buy other soaps but it's just not the same. :(

  26. I'm missing travel so much right now, too. We always take a road trip in the summer, but we had to skip that this year. I've been down the last week, too. It seems like the roller coaster of emotions is becoming the norm. Here's hoping for a better week this week for both of us! <3

  29. I love the book sleeve! Well I don't love the rain but it has tended to bring cooler weather this summer. Finally as of Saturday, we got down to 80F (27C) and lower humidity! This long weekend was perfect. But now it's 50-50 chance of rain for the next 10 days or so, but at least not hot like it has been. I don't have to water but it's harder to mow or do other yard projects. Enjoy all those new reads!

I am a homebody at heart, but I was bitten by the travel bug a couple of years ago.(Ugh, I don't like that expression in times like this!) Your book list is intriguing; so many interesting titles and covers. The only one I've read is The Troop.

  31. I'm so sorry you don't get to visit Orlando this year! I'll be so glad when life can get back to normal. I think a few good things have come out of this--more people working from home, less traffic, etc.--but mostly I miss being able to go where I want without checking to see if it's open or closed or if I can even get there. I was a bit cranky about it last week.
