Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
So in my bookshelves, virtual and physical I have a lot of books that I got my paws on last year that I was desperate to read but just never got around too. In the case of Ready Player Two and The Last Policeman I did actually start them but just never got past the first few chapters because I got distracted by something else. I hope to read a lot of these this year - have you read any of these?

I've had A Little Life in my audiobook queue for quite some time, but it's so long and when I started listening a few weeks ago, I couldn't concentrate. I wonder if I should try reading it in print, at least until I can get a handle on the plot & characters. I also have A Promised Land on my TBR list, but haven't purchased the book and probably won't for a few more months since I'm trying not to buy any new books. One of my book group friends has read and recommended Hidden Valley Road, so I may get to it later this year if our group chooses it. I loved Ready Player One, but have heard mixed reviews for the sequel, so I'm holding off on that one. Lots of good books here!
ReplyDeleteI’ve been warned A Little Life is quite a sizeable read, I’ve got it on kindle so I’ll tackle it a chapter at a time I think.
DeleteI’m listening to the audio of Ready Player Two and to be honest I’m disappointed so far, Wil Wheaton narrates it like the first book but so far it seems just like a rehash of the first book.
These look pretty good. I have a ton of books I need to get around to reading as well. Riley Sager and Goldilocks look promising!
ReplyDeleteI’m reading Riley Sager just now, it’s not as great as I’d thought but I’m only half way through.
DeleteGreat list! I've heard really good things about Goldilocks. I hope you enjoy all of these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jess!
DeleteMexican Gothic is on my list as well! These all look like great picks. TBH, I absolutely ADORED Illuminae but haven't tried to finish the rest of the trilogy because I'm afraid it won't live up to my expectations...
ReplyDeleteThe rest of Illuminae is excellent but I think the first book is still the best.
DeleteI will be reading Ready Player Two as soon as the audio arrives from the library.
ReplyDeleteIt’s been a bit of a disappointment but I’m not far in to it.
DeleteDefinitely read Mexican Gothic soon! I've had Goldilocks on my TBR for awhile and actually saw it at the library the last time I was there, but didn't grab it!
ReplyDeleteI’m hoping to read Mexican Gothic soon!
DeleteI still need to read Mexican Gothic, too.
ReplyDeleteMy post.
Hopefully I’ll get to it this month!
DeleteMomento is one I hope to read at some point. I really loved that series and wouldn't mind revisiting that world.
ReplyDeleteI’m hoping it’ll appear in paperback so I can add it to my collection.
DeleteHOME BEFORE DARK is on my list today, too! I actually just put it on the holds list at my library, so I should have it in my hands soon. I hope we both love it :)
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
To be honest it’s just ok but I’m only 40% in, I’m hoping the other 60% will be awesome!
DeleteA Promised Land was on my list this week too, I got it for Christmas, so obviously didn't have time to read it before the end of the year.

I got it for Christmas too, hopefully I’ll get to it before this Christmas!
DeleteI really enjoyed Home Before Dark. If you get to it, I hope you do, too!
ReplyDeleteIt is just ok at the moment but I’m just under half way through, I have a feeling it’s about to kick off!
DeleteI really like that cover for Home Before Dark. I read and really enjoyed that one. I still want to read A Promised Land and Mexican Gothic - though I do own the latter.

I’m looking forward a Promised Land but I think I’ll need to definitely be in the right frame of mind before I start it.
Delete#1 made my list today, too. I also just realized I need to read Momento, too!
ReplyDeleteI’m listening to Ready Player Two just now and it’s a bit anticlimactic , hoping it gets better.
DeleteSo many books so little time, am I right? Hope you manage to get around to these. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/books-i-meant-to-read-in-2020/
ReplyDeleteExactly, not enough hours in the day!
DeleteI'm afraid I haven't read any of these, Heather, but I have been hearing really good things about Mexican Gothic, which make me think I should! I hope you will have chance to read all these soon. 🙂
ReplyDeleteI’ve heard good things about it too, fingers crossed I’ll get in to it this month!
DeleteI've read Ready Player Two, Mexican Gothic, and A Promised Land.
ReplyDeleteHidden Valley Road hit my radar during Nonfiction November and now I feel like I see it everywhere! I'm excited to read it.
I hope you enjoy these when you read them!
I’ve seen Hidden Valley everywhere, it’s a difficult subject but I’ll think it’ll be an interesting read.
DeleteHome Before Dark and Mexican Gothic are two books I meant to read last year, too. I blame my library for not having enough copies to go around to all the many, many people who also wanted to read these books. ;D
ReplyDeleteThere has been a lot of people wanting to read them!
DeleteGreat list! I still need to read Ready Player One though.
ReplyDeleteHere’s my TTT!

Ready Player One is excellent!
DeleteThe only one I got to on your list is Mexican Gothic. It was as atmospheric and thrilling as it was hyped up to be. I hope you get to all of these books this year and happy reading! Here's my post: https://www.nbiblioholic.com/2021/01/ten-of-books-i-meant-to-read-in-2020.html
ReplyDeleteI have high hopes for it!
DeleteI didn't get to do my TTT! School's a bit busy... No complaints from my side! There's a few of yours on my list too. Mexican Gothic, Rodham and Hidden Valley Road. Maybe Ready Player Two as well.
ReplyDeleteA Little Life is really good and I think it's worth the read. BUT line those cozy mystery and soppy love stories up for in between. It's seriously heavy stuff...
Hope you are having a good week my friend!

It’s good to be busy! I think I’ll take your advice about A Little Life, it looks to be a very hefty book.
DeleteI’ll hopefully get to the others this year.
Hoping your are all well!
I did read Mexican Gothic and was so glad. I have Rodham on my shelves too. Soon, soon.
ReplyDeleteI’m going to have to read it soon, it’s getting lots of praise!
DeleteWhat a lovely looking list! I hope you manage to get around to most of these in 2021, Heather. And I very highly recommend Mexican Gothic - I like the look of The Last Policeman.
ReplyDeleteI think you’d enjoy The Last Policeman, I’ve just started the second book and I’m dying to know how the series will end.
DeleteI really want to get my hands on the paperback version of Ready Player Two! I so much loved the first book.
ReplyDeleteSo far I’m a little let down with it but I’m hoping the best is yet to come!
DeleteI haven't read any of these either, but A Promised Land is on my tbr! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dedra!
DeleteReady Player Two and A Promised Land are books I meant to read last year too but just ran out of time. Hopefully we'll both get to them this year. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope so Suzanne!
