Book Blogger Hop - 22nd to 28th January

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

Question

22nd to 28th

Do you own more than one eBook reader?

(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Answer

I have a Kindle Paperwhite that I use for the majority of my reading, I always said I would never buy one but this is my third Kindle previously having owned two Fire tablets.  I prefer the Paperwhite style.

When I receive a graphic novel ARC or if I buy comics from Humble Bundle I tend to use my iPad for reading purposes.  I have two apps I use, one is called Panels and the other is Adobe Digital Editions.

  1. I can see how an iPad would be so much better for a graphic novel then a Paperwhite. I prefer reading on my Paperwhite but it definitely isn't a good choice for graphic heavy reads.

    1. No, I’ve tried on the Paperwhite but the iPad wins hands down.

  2. The struggle is needing different eReaders given the format, right? I have a paperwhite and I won a small Fire. Then my daughter bought me an Oasis and because I kept getting PDF ARCs, she also got me a bigger Fire. They all work, so I have 4 eReaders, but my Oasis is my go-to

  3. I have a really old Kindle Fire that I ADORE and I'm dreading the day it stops working. I recently bought an Oasis as a back up, but I haven't had to use it yet😁

    1. I loved my kindle fire but it kept breaking down plus I got distracted by the games!

  4. Yes to that. I first got a Kobo as a President but as I don't have a credit card I was unable to buy Kobo books on it from them so I then got a Kindle to use on Amazon. My Kobo is called Myrnin, a vampire from the Morganville Vampires, and my Kindle is called Maurice, named after a closet monster in Monster Haven!

    1. I never thought about properly naming my kindle, it’s just called Heather Kindle, boring!

  5. I only have the one, which is also a Paperwhite. I'd definitely buy another one should that go kaput, I couldn't manage without one now!

  6. I just started reading on a Kindle about 10 months ago. Before that I was a paperback girl all the way! I hope you can stop by:

  7. I hear so many raves for the Paperwhite but I just keep sticking with the Fire tablets. I almost always read on my iPad or iPhone but once in a great while I do pick up my actual Kindle.

    1. I really loved my fire and it was great to see the covers in colour but the Paperwhite battery last longer and the internet on it is ropey which means I don’t browse the net instead of reading.

  8. I tried a graphic novel on my Fire once and it didn't work well. I could probably view one on my computer and have much better luck, but I prefer physical graphic novels at this point. I don't read them often enough though that it's not a big deal.

I never thought I'd do most of my reading on an e-reader, but here I am. LOL It's just so convenient! I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. I never thought I would either but even though I still have loads of physical books, the Paperwhite is my go to.

  9. It's a really great question! I've been using a Paperwhite since 2012 and I'm now on my 2nd one, though my first still works perfectly well. They were both gifts from my mother. And my father-in-law gave me a Kindle Fire that he couldn't get on with which I use to listen to audiobooks as neither Paperwhite is audio-enabled. I love my ereaders and now prefer reading ebooks and listening to audiobooks when houseworking.

    1. I’ve started getting in to audiobooks a bit more, I’m currently enjoying the Complete Sherlock Holmes narrated by Stephen Fry, his voice is so relaxing whilst I work.

  10. I have three Kindle Fires and a little grey first generation Kindle e-reader. 😆 I have a small 7" Fire I keep in my backpack for Facebook and Twitter, game apps, and grocery store apps because my phone is not a smartphone; and I have one of my two 10" Fires dedicated to books and Goodreads only with no social media on it, so I'm not distracted when I read. 🤓
