Hello everyone, hoping you are well and a belated Happy New Year to you all.

First of all you might have noticed I’ve given my plant some pals, I think he will be better for it as he was getting lonely 😉

I think this week has been shit, pardon my French.  I’m watching the news just now and I think I’ll switch over to something happier.  We now have three vaccines approved in the UK and the news is full of pictures of people queuing up in the cold.  Also in the news is the news that the Police are cracking down on people who shouldn’t be out and about miles from home.  I hope you are all safe wherever you are in this crazy world.

In my life, homeschooling starts next week along with home working, hopeful that will go well and we will all still be talking at the end of the week.

The weather here is bloody freezing with some snow but as we are in near lockdown when I do go out it’s actually quite nice and peaceful.

My book buying ban is going well, I haven’t purchased anything since the 31st.  I have received about ten Discworld novels that I bought from eBay but I bought them last year so my conscience is clear!  I’m enjoying creating lists for my “buying all the books” next year.

Have a lovely safe week x

  1. Plants need friends. :) Good luck with the homeschooling, and hope your week goes well. I love the look of The Double- will have to check that out.

  2. Your plants look happy ;)
I hope all goes well juggling the at-home situation.

Wishing you a great reading week, stay cosy!

  3. I'm REALLY not happy with our UK government deciding to delay the second doses of the P vaccine when the makers say 'hey we haven't tested the effects of a delayed second dose!' It's such a big gamble to give part protection to double the people instead of getting the most at risk fully vaccinated. The Scottish Government might go their own way on this and for once I hope they do!

    1. Nicola has seemed to go her own way some of the time, our local gp surgery has one hundred doses, it seems such a small amount for a predominantly aged population here.

  4. The U.S. is doing pretty bad too, in every way! Not a great start to 2021, I sure hope things get better. I'm not familiar with either of your new books, I'll have to check them out. Hope you have a good week😁

  5. I laughed when you brought up the weather, because I used to complain so much about the cold. Now that I only leave the house once a week (for food), it's a non-event. Good luck with home schooling/working. Quite a challenge.

  6. Love the plants!

I'm up in Canada but the weather has been sporadically warm. Kinda crazy for January.

    Happy reading!

  8. Love that your plants have buddies now. ;)

Yeah, things are crazy in the U.S. right now, as I'm sure you are aware. That's great the UK has three vaccines. Hopefully it'll start rolling out quicker, but they should definitely get frontline workers and those most at risk first.

I hope that homeschool and working from home go well!!

  9. I can't watch the news these days at all. It makes me too...upset, frustrated, anxious, etc. And January is the month when I finally buy all the books I wanted last year and didn't get...so I'm looking forward to that. Have a good week...and stay warm. :D

  10. I think it's been a frustration here that the vaccine has been released, but the rollout is going so slowly. We'll see!

    1. It’s taking it’s time here but the amount vaccinated is higher and higher every day. It’ll be a long time till I get it!

  11. I have not been able to turn the news off since Wednesday. I am both in shock and not at all surprised by what happened to our Capitol in DC and I have been filled with rage since seeing the very first images and videos.

On a lighter note...enjoy your new reads, they look great!

I'm right there with Lark... I've stopped watching the news.

  13. Here the vaccine is going to health care workers and first responders and then residents of nursing homes which makes sense but I can't wait for it to be available for the general public and I can't wait for the pediatric trials to finish. We have started homeschooling again this week but I don't have work from home to mix in so that makes it a little less crazy. Love the plant's friends and hope you have a great week and stay warm!

    1. It’s the same here, the over 80s and frontline workers are getting done. They’ve opened up masses of vaccination centres. Thankfully my kids have been getting on with it so I get relative peace to work!

  14. I wish you well with homeschooling and work this coming week. Hopefully everything goes smoothly for you. It's always easiest to enjoy cold weather from indoors. :-) The weather here has warmed up enough for me to open the windows in the afternoon. It's been nice letting the breeze in. I am glad your book buying ban is going well. I hope you enjoy your new review books! The Colour of Thunder especially sounds good. Have a great week! Hopefully it will be a better news week all around.

  15. Happy New Year, Heather. :) It has been so cold here too - no snow, but very very cold. I'm glad I only leave home for food shopping, or I would freeze.

    Happy readings! :)

  17. Hi Heather! Everything on your blog looks absolutely gorgeous my friend! Love the new plant friends.

Good for you for sticking to your non-buying guns!! I will take inspiration from you.

It's been quite hot here with us, but today is cooler and rainy. School starts tomorrow and I will be back teaching at school and online. I'm actually kind of excited.

Hope you will have a good week stay warm and take care!

    1. That you!! I love my new plants too!

I’ve not bought a book yet though one of my 2020 preorders arrived today but as I “bought” it last year it doesn’t count!

It’s freezing here, down in the minus temps, definitely need to wrap up warm.

  18. The world is a mess right now. I've had enough of lies and deceit. I will be nice, but I will call down lies.

Good luck with your homeschooling and your homeworking.

I envy your resolve to read the books you have. Good job!

  19. Yes - it's been freezing here, too. But as we are right down on the South coast, not too bad and we have had sunshine, where other folks have had freezing fog (my mother). Best of luck with the home-schooling - it's such a difficult thing to do with fed up children... In the meantime, have a good week and stay warm:)).

  20. Happy new year! It's been quite cold here as well, but no snow yet. We actually had a few cold, but sunny days. Good luck with the home schooling and the book buying ban! I like your updated Sunday Post logo with all the plants. I hope you'll have a good week.

  21. I think that having snow and not worrying about driving in the snow and frost is one of the best perks of being in lockdown Heather! We are still waiting for the snow here, even if some part of the country do have snow. I hope homeschooling and homeworking will go well next week!
