Hello everyone, hoping you are well.
This will be my first Sunday Post since early February, this is mainly due to having lots of comments to reply too and I thought I’d catch up with them rather than carry on and stress myself out.
Since I last did this, my parents, my mother in law, my husband and several other friends have had their covid vaccine (Some Astra Zeneca, Some Pfizer if you are interested) and no adverse effects have been noted like growing a tail. I’m glad the UK seems to be getting through everyone quickly, well in my eyes it’s quick. As I am in the 40-49 section I’m hopeful I’ll get mine in the next few months.
I also now have a twelve year old with my youngest celebrating her birthday last week, she loves her cosplay and she received lots of clothes to cosplay as anime characters I’ve never heard off. She does watch a lot of something called Demon Slayer. I don’t know if I should be worried, anyway here she is below.
Not much else to report, I have been enjoying some TV watching, restarting The Handmaid’s Tale (the last time I ended up distracted by something else), The Stand, an amazing show called The Head which is set in Antarctica and I’m also watching Call My Agent which is French and is really good. I’m also trying The Purge tv show, never watched the films but thought I’d give it a try.
Let me know how you all are!
Have a lovely safe week x
I'm really curious about Broken by Jenny Lawson. That's great so many people you know have gotten the vaccine! I am getting mine tomorrow, and the second at the end of March so I'm pretty pumped.

I loved Furiously Happy so I have great hopes for this one!
DeleteThat’s great news about your vaccine!
I'm the same with comments. I have so many I haven't answered it's kinda stressing me out!
ReplyDelete"like growing a tail" lol That's awesome about the vaccine though. We've had the Covid so I'm not sure where we ae on the priority list- need to find out I suppose.
Farewell My Herring- beautiful cover! I love that cover of Later too!
I’m trying to answer them as I publish them now,we will see how that plan goes!
DeleteYep, the UK seems to be going great guns with our vaccination program, hopefully we will get ours soon!
Happy birthday to your daughter! Mine loved cosplay too when she was that age. I also got Rabbits, I think it sounds so good. Have a good week, Heather!
ReplyDeleteShe is really getting in to it, I’m not sure if it’ll last, I hope it does.
DeleteI’m looking forward to Rabbits, I never listened to the podcast but I’d heard good things about it.
I don't know many people who have gotten the vaccine yet, so that's great that it's going so quickly where you live!
ReplyDeleteThe NHS is doing a great job getting us done, I’m hopeful I’ll get done in a couple of months time.
DeleteWonderful news that your parents, in-laws and husband have been able to get their vaccinations. My mom gets her 2nd later this week (she's 87), but my husband (68) and I (59) are still waiting for our first. I'm beginning to feel a bit impatient, but we continue to stay pretty isolated and I don't see that changing too much even after we are protected.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter looks darling. 12 is a fun age!
Good to know that you're enjoying The Stand. I need to remember to add that to our queue, which is about a mile long! We're currently watching Fortitude, which is rather confusing but good. We'll probably watch the new season of Bosch, once we've finished the other.
Enjoy your weekend!
I think over your side of the pond more people have had their second injections, over here not so many have had theirs yet. But it still seems to a well organised process here thankfully.
DeleteThank you, she had her moments but she’s at the age where she thinks she is a teenager already!
I started Fortitude but never finished it, I really should revisit as it’s a beautiful setting.
I hope you love The Handmaid’s Tale as much as I did!
ReplyDeleteBlessed Be! I’m on the second series now!
DeleteI'm delighted to say that most of my family and friends who are elderly (like me!) have now had at least their first vaccine. No tail-growing here either.
ReplyDeleteLook at your daughter! Adorable costume. Happy birthday to her.
Hummingbird Salamander looks intriguing.I remember hearing a lot about that author's other book, Annihilation.
That’s great news about the vaccine, it’s a comfort to know our loved ones are safer.
DeleteShe’s taller than me already, well my eldest is taller than me too, they take after their very tall dad!
Annihilation was an amazing read, a bonkers but good book.
My son just turned 12 in February! Awww! She's adorable. love that she's into cosplay and Pokemon. That cake is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can get your jab soon! My governor is saying closer to June or maybe July for us.
I've heard lots of good things about King's new book. I may have to pick it up. I am weary about King. He seems in need of a good editor from time-to-time! lol.
I was wondering about the Head. I'll have to definitely add it to my list now. Enjoy your week!
The Head is excellent, I just watched the penultimate episode and can’t wait to see how it ends, it’s so gripping.
DeleteShe’s so in to it, I hope the enthusiasm stays for it, she’s developing quite the wardrobe !
I haven't posted in ages either. I'm... Not doing well with this lockdown. That said, I'm super happy when I hear about people getting their vaccines as it gives me hope that there IS an end in sight!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're doing okay and happy birthday to your daughter!
It’s been a long slog hasn’t it, hopefully by summer things will be looking up. Sending hugs to you Nicci!
DeleteBroken is on my To Buy list. I've loved her other books. Happy birthday to your youngest! That's great about the vaccinations and also great about not growing a tail! My husband has his appointment for his first and my daughter just had her second and they're talking about opening up to other groups very soon so I have high hopes. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteJenny Lawson is so funny, I’m really looking forward to reading it.
DeleteIt’s great that more and more people are getting it, I can’t wait to be able to hug my parents again!
Our province isn't rolling out vaccines till May. I think Canada only approved a couple of vaccines so far, so we're definitely lagging behind.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a great weekend!
I thought Canada had started , it was on the news about the amount of vaccines the country had secured. Fingers crossed they get going soon!
DeleteLawson's books always have such cute covers. That's wonderful that so many in your family have been vaccinated! My dad got shot 2, as did my sister and her husband. I am waiting my turn, as I fall into the same age range as you without any other risk factors. I think our girls could be friends. My daughter had a Pikachu cake when she was younger and also loves anime. Your daughter's cosplay is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThey have the best covers don’t they!
DeleteMy youngest is obsessed, she’s been spending her birthday money on more cosplay supplies and figures of anime figures I’ve never heard off though I wish she’d tidy her bedroom, it’s a mess of kimonos and wigs!
I am glad so many people in your family have been able to get the vaccine. It's such a relief, I am sure. I have mine, but it will be awhile before my husband is able to get his. My mom just got her second dose earlier this last week.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter! My daughter likes Pokémon too. :-) My daughter's birthday is this coming week. It will be a quiet affair, just the three of us, but hopefully we can make it special for her. I know she will miss being able to spend it with some of her friends.
I still haven't watched The Handmaid's Tale. I really need to. The timing never seems right though.
I hope you are enjoying your reading. The Lost and Found Bookshop is one I would like to read at some point. I hope you enjoy all your new books! I'm especially looking forward to Broken and Black Water Sister.
I hope you have a great week!
That’s good news about your vaccine, hopefully by the end of summer the majority of us will be done.
DeleteShe has a thing for all things Japanese, I hope it continues, it brings out the creative side of her!
I’m really enjoying The Handmaid’s Tale, I’m on the second season now and it’s just getting better and better.
The Lost and Found Bookshop is really good, not what I expected at all.
Happy birthday to your youngest! One more year until teenagerhood. 😯
ReplyDeleteThe books you received from the publishers all look fab! I was sent the Jenny Lawson book. I'm excited to read it. 👏👏👏
Yay for all the vaccinations! I too am on a backlist, but I am anxious to get mine, too. 😊
Have a wonderful week! 🌞
My oldest turns 14 this month, so between the two of them my hair is turning grey!
DeleteI love Jenny Lawson so I’m looking forward to reading this and getting my paws on a physical copy too for my collection.
Have a lovely week too!
It's good to know that the vaccine is being distributed so efficiently in the UK. Our rollout is only just starting now so I am not sure how long it will take until it will be my turn.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
It’s seems to be efficient, I just hope it continues that way.
DeleteLovely to have you back, Heather! I am pleased to hear so many of your family have now received their vaccine, with no side effects, and that your daughter enjoyed her 12th birthday - She does look lovely in her cosplay outfit, even if I have no idea who these characters are either! 😊 As for myself, this last week was a bit of grey blur. however I did enjoy reading The Testament of Loki by Joanne M. Harris and watching The Alienist on Netflix. Take care and happy reading in the coming week 🙂
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica, she’s been dressing up everyday but the only problem is getting her to remove her makeup properly, she’s headstrong so is always convinced she’s done it correctly!
DeleteI’m curious about the Loki book, I may need to check it out!
Lovely pics - my grandson loves cosplay too. He enjoys dressing up into his favourite anime characters. They do grow up head-swivellingly fast... I hope you have a lovely week, Heather:)
ReplyDeleteI know, I can’t believe hold old they are, my oldest is fourteen this month! It’s crazy!
DeleteYour daughter seems like a delight, and that is such a pretty kimono, happy birthday to her!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new books, I’m jealous you have Broken ;)
Wishing you a great reading week
The kimono is beautiful, it is a proper Japanese kimono, the fabric is gorgeous.
DeleteI’m excited to start Broken!
It can be good to take a bit of a break at times, the comments sure can stack up. That's great so many of the people close to you got the vaccine already with o adverse effects. I'll have to look up how far we are here with vaccine's, but I think they're doing the older and sick ones first. I hope my mom and grandma get theirs soon.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday to your daughter. That cosplay picture of her looks great. My sister is into the whole cosplaying thing as well. It's great to see the outfits they can buy/ create.
I hope you'll have a great week!
They certainly can, it’s great but if you don’t keep on top of them!
DeleteI hope the vaccine rollout continues to be smooth, it’s the new variants that keep popping up that worry me.
I’m happy she’s interested in it and is obsessed with Japan apart from the food, she won’t touch it!
Love that cosplay birthday. And the pichachu cake. yum!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely cake!
DeleteHa! You bought a book! But I really, really don't blame you. If I can get my hands on it, I will buy it too.
ReplyDeleteI spend yesterday afternoon catching up on comments, but now there are a few more after I've posted my Six Degrees of Separation. But I'll get to it!
Life is seriously hectic on my side and I am sooo looking forward to holidays in 2 weeks time.
Glad to hear you are well!
Have a wonderful week.
Elza Reads
Ah, no technically this one was preordered last year! It was in my small print for the challenge!
DeleteI’m trying not to publish them and then comment days/weeks later, I’m pressing publish one at a time then answering straight away. Hopefully it’ll work!
I’m looking forward to a long Easter weekend at the start of next month, have a great week!
Awww!! Your daughter looks so cute! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
Thanks! You too!
DeleteI know what it's like trying to keep on top of the comments, read books, write reviews and publish posts, sometimes I don't know which way to turn first!!
ReplyDeleteHubbie and I have both had our first jab (we are both much older than yourself!)and no long lasting side effects, although I was rough for the first couple of days with 'flu like symptoms.
It must be a nightmare having the girls' birthdays so close together, especially as they will be back at school yet unable to have a party. I love the Pokemon cake though, did you make it yourself?
I really like the sound of the Susan Wiggs book, but overall you have a great mix of genres, something for every mood!
Have a good week :)
Yvonne xx
It’s a job in itself with the comments, I love reading them and visiting sites, I just wish there was more hours in the day!
DeleteI’ve heard a few people complain about the feeling like they have the flu, it’s a small price to pay isn’t it for the peace and mind. I’m looking forward to getting mine!
They often get mistaken as twins! It should have been a slightly bigger gap but neither of them appeared when there where supposed too! No I can’t take credit for the cake!
The Susan Wiggs book fell a bit flat towards the middle and I’ve ended up DNFing it.
Thanks for stopping by Yvonne!
It's been really nice to read about so many people getting the vaccine. We're still waiting, here (hopefully my mom and dad will get it soon), but we're hopeful!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Fingers crossed you get your shots soon!
DeleteI'm glad so many in your family have been vaccinated. I got a text we will be eligible March 24 in our state. Lockdown may be a bit boring but you are able to work and read and stay safe. I don't mind so much. I want to read the Susan Wigg book.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
That’s great news about the vaccine. Being able to work from home is a bonus, it’ll be strange going back to the office.
DeleteNice looking assortment of books! The USA is getting going on vaccines now finally. We're over 2 million a day for our average. I've had my first Moderna shot and have a few weeks yet before my second. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDelete2 million a day is amazing, it’s incredible what our health services are achieving!
DeleteI loved The Lost and Found Bookshop. Enjoy your books, and I hope you get your vaccine soon!
ReplyDeleteI've had both, but then I'm "old." LOL
Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
I wanted to love it but I ended up not finishing it which was a shame, I do want to visit that bookshop though, it sounds like a beautiful building.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your lovely daughter! Your new books all look good to me. We have had our shots and that feels good though life has not changed dramatically, at least not so far.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy! That’s great news about your shots, I don’t know if life with fully go back to normal but I think these vaccines will help.
DeleteWhat, no tail? Dangit!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to your youngest and happy early birthday to your oldest :D
Thank you for the birthday wishes!
DeleteNope no tail, such a disappointment!
I can't wait to get a read at Broken but I can't decide which cover I want to try and get! Glad your family are getting the vaccine too. I'll be a wreck until my dad gets his second dose but who knows when that will be? I'm watching the post for those blue NHS envelopes!
ReplyDeleteI’m looking forward to it, I’m going to read it over the long Easter weekend I think.
DeleteI’m disappointed we’ve not had any blue envelopes we just seem to be getting summoned by phone instead!
So many of your books look good!!
ReplyDeleteAnd that is awesome so many members of your family are vaccinated! I get my first one Friday. Michigan opened it up to parents of special needs kiddos and that would be me! I feel such relief. If I get a tail I would hope it is at least a fluffy one, I think. (I'm getting the Moderna - the Dolly Parton shot!)
Happy birthday to your daughter!
That’s brilliant that they’ve done that, it is the sensible thing to do. A side effect of some kind of super power would be good too!
DeleteI saw pictures of Dolly getting her, she’s a legend!
It is tough keeping up with comments. I don't post as much as I did at the beginning of blogging so that helps. Both my husband and I had our vaccinations because I work at a hospital and deal with covid patients all the time. One perk of the job.
ReplyDeleteFarewell My Herring looks interesting. Happy reading!
It is, I’m trying not to publish the comments until I’m ready to reply and that seems to work at the moment.
DeleteThat’s great news about the vaccine!
