Hello everyone!

I hope you are all safe and well wherever you are in the world!

Not much happening here apart from my house looks like it’s been burgled.  There’s stuff everywhere due to our impending move.  Boxes are starting to stack up and the first few sealed up ones are full of books and oh my days, they weigh a tonne!

Here in the UK it’s a Bank Holiday weekend and I’ve got Monday off so there will be more packing going on.  Though my friend has leant me House of Leaves by Mark Danielweski, it has an interesting creepy premise but also have very mixed reviews.  I’m going to give it a try!

Have a lovely week x

  1. I remember one of the times we moved and thankfully had a moving company come in to pack everything up. The poor young man who went into our finished basement and saw my husband's bookshelves just about died. I think there must have been 50 boxes of books when he was finished. Sadly, we no longer hang on to all our books once we've finished reading them. They take up far too much space!

Happy packing and have a lovely weekend!

    1. Oh my goodness, that is a lot of books!! I think at the minute I’m about ten boxes with a case and a half to pack up. I just hate parting with them but of course you can’t keep everything.

      Have a good weekend too!

    1. It’s an ok read so far but I’ve not gotten to the pages where the text goes all over the shop.

      Have a good week too!

  4. Probably not a lot of fun to do all the packing and moving, but won't it be wonderful to be settling into a new home?!

A Strange and Brilliant Light---the bird on the cover intrigues me. Off to find out more.

    1. I’m so looking forward to it, packing is a necessary evil but also a good chance to declutter!

    1. I hate it already especially as my husband thinks I’m packing way too early, I disagree!

  10. Got to love the box kingdom your house turns into when moving! I hope you get some time to read your book in between it all. :)

  11. Sorry to hear you were burgled! People suck!

I read and enjoyed The Retreat by Mark Edwards so I'm curious about his newest. I'll have to check it out.

    Good luck with your move!

  12. I hope your move goes well. If you are going to toss anything, now is the time! Or gift or donate it or whatever. Yay for the extra day for packing and reading. Moving makes me appreciate my Kindle, full of books even more, as does traveling. I like the look of your reads. Enjoy!

    1. Yes I’m being ruthless, I’m giving away things left right and centre!

I wish I could give up physical books but I can’t, it would certainly make our move a bit lighter!

  13. Moving is the never ending task! There's always just a few more things and then once you've actually moved the unpacking always feels just as unending though it is a lot more fun. Have a great week!

    1. It’ll be worth it in the end but it’s quite the job, especially the books!

  14. One of my college friends was a Philosophy of Religion major (believe it or not), and when he moved he had several heavy boxes of books labeled "GOD BOOKS," and after lifting one to put in the moving van his brother said, "They're GODDAMN BOOKS, that's what they are!" πŸ˜† The last time I moved my friends said pizza and beer were not enough of an enticement. πŸ˜› Are you moving closer to work? I guess I'll go and peruse the other Sunday Posts I missed. 😏

I hope you are having a good week. 🌞

    1. I’d quite like to label them with many expletives but our moving plan has changed, we are having to get movers in so I better keep the boxes nicely labelled!

No, moving closer to the other halves work. I can split my work between office and home. He was travelling 600 plus miles a week, after the move he will be travelling 5 miles a day! I’ll have a slightly longer commute but it’ll be all motorway rather than rural that makes up most of my route just now.
